Figure-Ground Relationship

One of the two images that weren't made or taken by me, this image is representing figure-ground relationship. This image represents the relationship between the foreground and the background and how our minds perceive each one together as one image. The subject of the figure-ground relationship is not always clear at first.

Asymmetrical Balance

In a recent game of Candy Land, I captured this image that shows an asymmetrical balance amongst the pieces. A viewer may want to lean to one side to feel like the image is not as heavy.

Cool Colors

Aside from the icicles and winter gear, the cool colors of this image give off a chilly, yet relaxing and soothing feeling. The many tints and shades of blues and purples take up the majority of this photo.

Warm Colors

Taken in my backyard, the bright yellows, oranges, and reds of this image represent warm colors. Because of their boldness, the flowers seem to pop straight from the photo.

Chiaroscuro Lighting

This photo of my cat Muffy, shows the strong highlights and strong shadows of chiaroscuro lighting. The high contrast allows for full detail on one side of her face.

Atmospheric Perspective

This beautiful photo was taken on my trip to Europe last summer. It is a simple representation of atmospheric perspective.

Apparent Movement

This photo, taken of my younger brother at his soccer game, represent the apparent and obvious movement of him running with the ball. It creates a feeling of leaning forward to join in the action of the game.

Gestalt

This image, taken at a hotel in Atlanta, represents the continuation aspect within the Gestalt principles. It's long hallways are broken up by the elevator, yet the eye continues it across the image.

Iconic Sign

This Nike symbol is one of the many iconic signs we see from day to day. Seeing this simple swoosh can make one think immediately of the brand name and all its products.

Analogic Code

This image is being used for analogic code due to its symbols and representation on the 'apples'.
